Anlässlich der Abstimmung des Deutschen Bundestages über eine Verlängerung der Bundeswehr-Mandate in Afghanistan hat der Verband Entwicklungspolitik deutscher Nichtregierungsorganisationen (VENRO) die Bundesregierung aufgefordert, die Beteiligung an der "Operation Enduring Freedom" so schnell wie möglich einzustellen. Der Einsatz habe sich politisch als kontraproduktiv herausgestellt und
werde von der afghanischen Zivilbevölkerung abgelehnt.
