Die von den USA angeführten ausländischen Besatzungstruppen stoßen in Afghanistan einer aktuellen Umfrage zufolge auf wachsende Ablehnung und Hass. Die internationalen Truppen werden immer weniger als Verbündete im Kampf gegen einen gemeinsamen Feind und immer stärker als Teil der Misere wahrgenommen. Das ist das Ergebnis einer Studie im Auftrag der Fernsehsender WDR/ARD, ABC und BBC, die am Montag in Köln veröffentlicht wurde. Demnach drängt erstmals eine knappe Mehrheit der Afghanen (51 Prozent) auf einen schnellen Abzug der USA und der NATO. In manchen Provinzen hält mehr als die Hälfte der Bevölkerung Anschläge auf US- und NATO-Soldaten für gerechtfertigt. Auch Deutschlands Ansehen ist von 70 auf 61 Prozent zurückgegangen und liegt nur noch knapp über dem des Iran. Am deutlichsten ist der Sympathie-Einbruch der USA: von in der islamischen Welt beispiellosen 83 Prozent im November 2005 auf nur noch 47 Prozent.

Der angebliche Befehl des NATO-Oberbefehlshabers Bantz Craddock zur Tötung afghanischer Drogenhändler auch ohne Beweise hat in Deutschland einen Sturm der Entrüstung ausgelöst. Verteidigungspolitiker wiesen am Donnerstag (23. Januar) in Berlin darauf hin, dass ein solcher Befehl von Bundeswehrsoldaten nicht ausgeführt werden kann.
