More Afghans 'to flee' conflict

The United Nations has warned that more and more Afghan civilians will be forced to flee their homes, if the conflict in Afghanistan continues.

Nach Aussage des Staatsministers im Auswärtigen Amt, Erler, erwägt die Bundesregierung, mehr Soldaten an den Hindukusch zu schicken. Dazu erklärt das Mitglied im Geschäftsführenden Parteivorstand Christine Buchholz:

DIE LINKE weist das Ansinnen der Bundesregierung zurück, mehr Soldaten nach Afghanistan zu schicken. Der Anschlag auf drei Polizisten hat wieder gezeigt, dass Deutschland im Krieg ist und die Deutschen als Besatzer empfunden werden. Nicht nur die Mehrheit der Deutschen ist gegen den Afghanistan-Einsatz. Auch die Mehrheit der afghanischen Bevölkerung ist gegen die ausländische Intervention. Und sie weiß auch warum. Sechs Jahre nach Kriegsbeginn ist nur ein Bruchteil von den 85 Mrd. Dollar, die für den Krieg aufgewendet wurden, für Hilfe ausgegeben worden. Der Abzug der Truppen ist die Vorraussetzung für wirkliche Hilfe. Frieden in Afghanistan ist nur möglich, wenn Krieg und Besatzung beendet werden. Der Bundestag hat in wenigen Wochen die Wahl. DIE LINKE fordert die Abgeordneten auf gegen die Verlängerung der Bundestagsmandate zu stimmen.

UK asked to withdraw troops from Afghanistan

The British Pukhtuns Association on Wednesday appealed to the United Kingdom to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan and stop spending huge amount on military activities in the embattled country to bring a durable peace to the region.
