The Taliban's approach is methodical and deliberate. They've shown they can survive the harshest conditions and still achieve tactical victories over a better-equipped enemy. They are highly-motivated and believe their cause is just. After all, they're not fighting to occupy a foreign nation; they're fighting to defend their own country.

Die Bundeswehr bereitet sich auf die Übernahme der schnellen Eingreiftruppe für Nordafghanistan vor. Ab Mitte 2008 werden Teile der Panzerbrigade 21 im nordrhein-westfälischen Augustdorf die sogenannte Quick Reaction Force (schnelle Eingreiftruppe) stellen, teilte die Bundeswehr am 13. Februar in Koblenz mit. Die QRF wird im Rahmen der Internationalen Schutztruppe ISAF dem unter deutscher Führung stehenden Regionalkommando Nord unterstellt. Verteidigungsminister Franz Josef Jung (CDU) hatte vor einer Woche angekündigt, dass Deutschland ab 1. Juli die schnelle Eingreiftruppe von den Norwegern übernehmen werde, die sich zurückziehen.
